The Bed
--
I
designed my bed to be in the back of the van and will sleep one person
left-to-right. Electronics will hide under the bed on the port side,
the water tank will be under the starboard side, and general storage
(the “garage”) will be under the center of the bed. The middle of the
bed will be easily removable in case I need to haul 4x8 sheets of
plywood or anything long and skinny (kayak, bicycle, giraffe, etc).
Removing the center section of the bed.
The center bed section removed.
Starting to panel the walls at the head and foot of the bed.
All
my wood will be sealed with 2 coats of varnish to try and protect the
wood from moisture over time. Unfortunately, it was December when I
finished building the bed. The only place I was able to do the
varnishing was inside the van. So, I stuck a portable electric heater
inside the van, closed the doors, and “had at it”.
Varnish
Day. Or in this case, Varnish Week! Thank goodness for the respirator.
Otherwise, this chore would have had to wait for summer.
