1965 to 1975	Dinghy sailing in Iowa and Minnesota.
1975 to 1980	Crewed on many different weekend racing sailboats (25' to 35' LOA) in the Chesapeake Bay area. Worked 2 years at Dickerson Boatbuilders. Crewed on a Dickerson 42 during 10 day offshore trip from North Carolina to Virgin Islands.
1980s	I was the skipper of a dozen or so bareboat charter trips, some with friends, some solo. Locations included San Juan Islands, Canadian Gulf Islands, Chesapeake Bay, and St Lucia. Charter boats included Dana 24, Oday 27, Orion 27, Columbia 28, Hunter 30, Hunter 36, C & C 41, and Beneteau 432.
1990s	I purchased a partially built Westsail 28 in Portland, Oregon, finished building the boat myself, sailed it to Seattle, and lived aboard in Seattle for a few years. I cruised the boat in the Puget Sound area and also took a 6 week coastal cruise up the west coast of Canada's Vancouver Island.
2001 to 2003	Purchased a Formosa 46 sailboat in Florida and lived aboard until 2015. I cruised single handed from Florida to the Bahamas, Turks and Caicos Islands, North Carolina, and the Chesapeake Bay. I cruised with crew from the Chesapeake Bay to Long Island Sound, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, and the coast of Maine. I later wrote an e-book describing these trips.
2007 to 2010	Traveled the Intracoastal Waterway twice as crew. I crewed aboard a Grand Banks 36 motor yacht trawler on two different trips, and was able to travel the ICW between West Palm Beach and Baltimore. I did a similar ICW trip as crew aboard a 50' motorsailor between Annapolis, MD and Fernandina Beach, FL.
2015	Sold my Formosa 46 sailboat and purchased a Marine Trader 38 trawler. Made the 3 day delivery trip from Edgewater, MD to Norfolk, VA single handed. Lived aboard the boat in Norfolk several years.
2017	Cruised the Albermarle Loop in the spring. Took the boat up to Lake Champlain in the summer, then back to Norfolk. In the fall, I cruised down the ICW to a winter marina in Brunswick, GA.
