I
created a rather rude and crude cockpit enclosure for my Formosa 46
sailboat.
The enclosure is intended to permit me to sit out in my cockpit on a
cold,
sunny winter day. Some of the pictures show a red outline around my
“dodger”,
which was built by a professional canvas-making company (Little Bay
Canvas)
here in Norfolk, VA. The dodger was built a few years prior to me
jumping into
the “enclosure” project. I tried to use some of their construction
details as a
guide for my own construction details. For other parts of the enclosure
design,
I just tried to “wing it”, and some of my ideas turned out better than
others.
Overall, if I was going to do it over, I would create a more simple
design.
Still, it looks reasonably good at a distance, which is about all I can
hope
for with most of my projects. I tinkered with the project on and off
for
roughly 3 years before I finished it.
